Celebrations?, calamity and call centres!

A quick personal note: Today is my 10th wedding anniversary. Initially I had hoped that this weekend would have brought with it a nice weekend getaway, but fate apparently didn't like that idea and we will have to celebrate with a quick hospital visit instead, as mera pati will be in the hospital until Tuesday. Oh well, it will certainly give me lots of time to watch movies over the weekend!

And, it just gets worse! Working at home avails me a lot of time to spend on what is quickly becoming an addiction, as long as I can use my laptop. This morning, I noticed that, *GASP* one of the hinges was broken, and after a lengthy phone call to Dell(which I will get into later), I will be sending it away for service. That means that my computer time will be severely restricted! So, before Tuesday arrives, I will try and finish watching Fashion and get my review up. After Tuesday I will try to cope with my withdrawl symptoms.

Also, after my one hour phone call with Dell, I have realized that I am completely hopeless. You never really know where you are phoning when you call a 1-800 phone number, especially for something like computer tech support, but when a lady named Preity answered my call and then transferred me to my customer support representative, Vivek, who spoke in his wonderful Indian accent, I was pretty sure I was connected to India. Now, I don't know too many people who care who's on the other end of the line or where the call centre is, but I was so happy to talk to Vivek, just because I was actually talking to someone who was right in India! And, leave it to me to make a complete fool of myself! When he said his name was Vivek, I said, "As in Oberoi?", to which he replied laughing slightly, "No." Later, when we were nearing the end of our little tête-à-tête and he asked me if I had any other questions, I couldn't help myself and asked if he was actually in India. He said yes, and then I, in all my embarrassing and awkward glory, gushed about how much I loved his country. I'm sure he thought I was completely insane. 34 going on 15.

And, because I am spending the majority of my anniversary alone, I think I'll turn to my Bollywood hubby to give me solace!

Happy Friday everyone!

Happy Anniversary to you and yours, Shell! Wish it would have been better, but the weekend after it will, so hang in there! :)

I've had some of the most intriguing conversations on film while speaking to call center people in India. Did you talk about any movies? And did SRK come up in the conversation? ;)

The hinges are sensitive, I've had the same issue with a notebook of another brand. I try to not fold the top every time, it's kind of solved a problem that seems to be inherent in using a laptop.

Happy Anniversary! Hope you can make up for the lost anniversary weekend soon.

Its too bad your laptop is going AWOL. It is scary to realise just how dependant we are on the computer and internet these days! I had no internet at home for a week earlier this month, and it kept me in my office even on weekends!

And I bet "Vivek" will be the star of his call center for having discovered a gori Bollywood fan!

    Thanks all for the wishes!

@ theBollywoodFan - Did you talk about any movies? And did SRK come up in the conversation?

Nahin, while I waited on hold I had all this stuff planned that I wanted to ask him, but chickened out in the end.

This is my first laptop - I didn't even know that could happen. I'll have to do the same and leave it open more.

@ Bhargav Saikia - Thanks again. Haven't heard from you in a while. Too busy grooving to Kaminey? ;)

@ bollyviewer - We're going to celebrate next weekend. Dinner and Harry Potter. Hopefully.

I don't know what I'm going to do without my "lappie", and I wasn't even the one who originally wanted it. I think I'm more addicted to the blogging than the actual laptop.

As for Vivek, I'm not too sure about that. Is there a word for silly fair girl? That would probably be more like it.

This post had me LOL. I sincerely hope I don't have to make any call center phone calls because I *know* I'll end up doing exactly the same thing, and with my luck it'll be some girl in Mexico whose real name is Esperanza and she just calls herself hope but the connection will be so terrible I'll think she's actually desi instead of Latina and then I'll be asking her all these questions about Shahid Kapoor and whether or not she thinks he was really dating Priyanka and she'll be, "whatever, b, just get off the phone because my novela's coming on." Actually, none of that would really happen except in my brain.

Anyway, I'm so sorry your hubby had to be in hospital during your anniversary. I hope it's a very happy one anyway!

Ha ha Ajnabi! That is hilarious and sounds totally like something that would happen to me. Oh, our brains and the situations they get us in.
    Thanks for the well wishes.

@ Daddy's Girl - Thanks. Sometimes I don't know how we made it to 10, but we did.

I'm pretty sure Vivek thought I was sweetly mental!

Love this... love how you ended off with SRK, too!

Happy Anni... I said so on the day, but really it should be documented here. :O)
