My Name Is Khan posters released!

The prayers of the fans not close to a Bollywood cinema may be answered by Fox Studios, who has purchased the much awaited My Name is Khan for nearly 100 crore! Maybe, with Fox Star doing distribution in the States as they did for Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, we will see the movie achieve an overseas recognition that no Indian film has seen before. Instead of being nominated in the foreign category at the Academy awards, could we see an actual Indian film take away the top prize?

Anyway, to tied us over, take a look at the movie poster promos just released.

Not knowing that much about the film's synopsis, except that it's about one man who's disability is mistaken for suspicious terrorist activity post 9/11, my only fear is how the movie would be received in the States with the general public (and more specifically right-wing enthusiasts). I'd hate to see the movie open to controversy.

Well I, for one, am thrilled that I may be able to go see this at our local theatre like I did for Slumdog! February can not come fast enough!

With such big things riding on it, I hope so to, but I'm a fan of Karan's work (even though I read that even he can't stand his own films!). I think this one, though, will be much different that his others, so we will see.

Hmm... Karan Johar + Shahrukh Khan = fun movies. Something with a serious subject like this needs a better hand on the directorial reins (KJo is NOT the director to curb SRK's hamming!) - so I hope this one delivers too. Whether it does or not, I guess I WILL watch if it comes to the local theatres! When is it releasing? And is it made in English (I know - I am hopelessly out of touch with new films!)?

@ bollyviewer - I don't think there is an exact date set yet, just sometime in February 2010 I believe. Because most of the movie is set in San Fransisco and New York there will be a lot of English in it, but it's still a Hindi film. Karan has said that this movie is a departure for him from his normal style, so I have the feeling that we may all be pleasantly surprised.

MNIK will be Karan Johar's biggest challenge as a filmmaker. Let's see how he fares.

PS I hope it doesn't turn out to be another Fanaa.

Ah, Bhargav, I liked Fanaa - well for the most part.

I'm really not sure how it will be received. Maybe it'll be easier to tell once a little more is released about the film. I honestly don't see it following the standard Karan forumla based on the subject matter, but who knows.

The only K Jo movie I have really liked is Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Found his other 2 movies mediocre and in fact KANK outright boring.

I hope this will be good. Lets see.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is ranked among my top 5 for sure, and his best work I think. I'm crossing my fingers for MNIK, but I would watch Shah Rukh read a phone book and probably enjoy it. :)

I adore KKHH and K3G (I know. Sorry) but think KHNH is just okay and KANK deserves to buuuuurrrrrnnnn for the hours of torture it put me through. So I'm nervous about MNIK. Not to mention the fact that two of my children are on the autism spectrum and I haven't been impressed with any film's treatment of the condition yet.

haha, that's funny because those were the two that hooked me! I likekd K3G too, but I saw it in something like or 4 installments. Might need to rewatch.

I can see where you're coming from with MNIK. Hopefully Shah Rukh can keep it real and Karan can keeped him reigned in for a realistic portayal.
